Artist of the Month, Katy Castanos, is known for her use of vivid colors, captivating movement and freedom of expression which are depicted in her large paintings in oil and acrylic. Through paintings of flowers and Japanese women in flowing kimonos, Katy conveys in this show a message of peace, hope and joy in the storms of life. Forum Lounge at 7pm: Let your imagination run wild at Cartune Xprez’s CASTL CRNRS socialized performance! CASTL CRNRS combines animated videos and performance to unfold a three-part, mythical tale of a violent forest tamed and replaced with geometric systems. Portland-based artists Peter Burr and Christopher Doulgeris are Cartune Xprez, a multimedia dance duo that use videos, music and installations that capitalize on the abundance of digital information.

Delacroix to Monet: Masterpieces of 19th-Century Painting from the Walters Art Museum. Assembled over a period of more than 140 years, the collection of the Walters Art Museum entails one of the finest holdings of 19th-century paintings in the United States. The only West Coast venue for the exhibition, SBMA is pleased to present 40 works from this renowned collection, selected for their art-historical significance and superior quality. Also The Santa Barbara Quire of Voyces, will sing from the upstairs galleries 6:30-7pm.
Family 1st Thursday: Frame It: Bring the whole family to enjoy 1st Thursday together in SBMA’s Family Resource Center located across from the Museum Café on the Lower Level. In March, sketch a painting from the Delacroix to Monet exhibition and then create a frame for your masterpiece, 5:30-7:30pm.

Christopher Umana uses anthropomorphic figures as representations of the people he encounters everyday, showing the ultimate connection of people, animals and insects. Albert Montoya will be showing a slice of his "Dames" collection, representing whimsical and seductive creatures paired with various sidekicks. Swim alongside photographer Richard Salas as he chronicles the undersea beauty of California’s Channel Islands Marine Sanctuary in Sea of Light. For the last five years, Richard has braved the cold waters and unpredictable currents to bring us a truly memorable collection of portraits and seascapes. Local fine artist and fashion designer Lindsey Mickelson releases her debut clothing line, CMND-Z Clothing, at Bryan Lee. The art show will feature her clothing line in juxtaposition with her fine art paintings. Wine will be poured by Whitcraft Winery and complimentary artist prints will be provided by Mickelson. The party will also feature GreenProject Consultant’s Zero Waste Party Kit to ensure proper disposal of all waste made during the event.
